Dr. Jennifer McCall, Founder

Dr. Jennifer McCall is a resident doctor completing her training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Queen’s University. She is passionate about sex education, women’s health, 2SLGBTQ+ health, reproductive rights, contraception, and public health and education. She developed the core content for SexMed when she was a graduating medical student under the supervision of Dr. Joanna Wilms of Family Medicine with the help of an Aesculapian Society Initiatives Grant (Queen’s University Undergraduate Medicine). She has continued to supervise content creation and delivery since then in her role as Founder and CEO. Outside of SexMed and work, you can find Jennifer on a rugby pitch, acting as the Chair of the Board of Directors at SAC Kingston, or working on her Master in Health Management (McMaster University).

Emma Monti,
Head Coordinator

Emma Monti (she/her) is a medical student at Queen's University. She is thrilled to be on the SexMed team, and has been involved with the organization since she was in her first year of medical school. Emma believes that the key to effective sex education lies in creating judgement-free, inclusive spaces for discussion and questions, and she aims to carry this passion for breaking down taboos around sex through her role as a SedMed coordinator and educator. She is passionate about 2SLGBTQ+ focused sex education, and is committed to promoting inclusive sex ed for students across Canada. In her spare time, you can find her baking, running or exploring hiking trails around Kingston.

Nicola Symonds,
Head Coordinator

Nicola Symonds is a medical student at Queen's University and is very excited to continue as SexMed Coordinator once again this year! Nicola is passionate about providing comprehensive sex education to those of all ages and backgrounds. She believes in the importance of normalizing conversations surrounding sexual health and creating an inclusive, judgment-free zone to discuss these important topics. Nicola has experience teaching in a variety of settings and loves engaging with students! Outside of SexMed and school, Nicola enjoys running, the outdoors, and experimenting with new recipes.

Our Volunteer Team

Our volunteers are medical students at Queen's University, and were trained as part of the SexMed Volunteer Training Program.  They are a fabulous group of students committed to delivering sex-positive, feminist, 2SLGBTQ+-inclusive sexual health workshops to your classrooms.
